The dog is trained on narcotics detection, suspect apprehension, suspect track, building search, article search, area search, and handler protection. Our K- 9 team is nationally certified through the North America Police Work dog Association.

The K-9 Unit has recorded almost two thousand uses in the past five years. Among responding to calls in Erlanger the K-9 Team assists Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies as well. In 2007 the K-9 Team recorded three hundred twenty- nine uses and was responsible for thirty-six criminal apprehensions. The K-9 unit is a vital part of the Erlanger Police Patrol Division. Sgt. Mike Leming is currently the supervisor of the K-9 Unit. He is responsible for training and all equipment needs.
