Citizen's Academy

- Patrolmen Jason Whaley and Jeremiah Dowell conduct the Academy.

- The Academy spans 13 weeks.

- The classes are one night a week, three hours a night.

- A person must be 18 years of age, have a clear background check and be of good character to participate.

- Applications are available at the Erlanger Police Department, 505 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger.

- Classes include:

    Firearms and Use of Force Exercises.
    Canine Demonstration and Lecture.
    Traffic Stop procedures and practical
    Presentations from Local Judges, Prosecutors and Defense Attorneys.
    Firearms simulator training. (F.A.T.S.)
    Building search and seizure.
    Use of a fire extinguisher and CPR/First Aid certification.
    Presentations from the Kenton County Sheriff, Coroner and Jailer.
    Explanation of the Erlanger Communications Center and the 911 system.
